Others Countries - Mosin Nagant Model of 1944, and China Type-53

In the years following World War II, many Soviet-influenced nations behind the Iron Curtain adopted production of the Mosin Nagant. China also followed suit. The most prolific manufacturing was based on the Model of 1944 design. The Soviet Union also directly provided some Izhevsk Arsenal carbines to Satellite Nations, and these specimens exhibit refurbishment features or markings that are specific each country.

  • Hungary : Substantial quantities of Mosin Nagant guns were made by FEG of Budapest in the early 1950's. Production centered around well made copies of the obr.1944g. carbine and the obr. 91/30 sniper rifle.

  • Romania : Romania produced a large number of M/44's possibly for home defense but it is believed that their eye was on the third world export market.

Model M44 Carbine Variants, Other Countries



1. Polish M44: Features include: Integral folding bayonet. Round, low wall receiver. Second pattern front barrel sleeve w/narrow front Sight Base, and Double Ear bayonet lug. Stock and handguard are beech wood, no additional finish.
