If I was trying to buy a loaf of bread that is.
Found this little piece of history today, just folded up, thrown in the basement where I got the pickelhaube in my other post from.
Kinda neat to actually be able to see one of these bills in person.
You see pictures of them in history books, or you read about them, and about the skyrocketing inflation that helped spell the end for the Weimar Republic but its altogether different to feel the paper between your fingers.
As I figure it, as this one was printed in 1920, and hyper inflation hadn't run amok yet, this particular note was completely worthless by the end of the same week it was printed...

*sigh*

I hate it when history repeats itself...

On a happier note, here are pics!

Also to be remembered is that the GI who brought this home probably took it off a dead enemy soldier along with that helmet, that being the easiest, and safest way to acquire such souvenirs.  Makes you look at such things in a whole different light when you hold them.  I think of it every time I pick up my K98k, it's y strap, and pouch set with bayonet, along with a few other items, all from the same "good" Nazi in 1945 and brought home by a GI I came to know later in his life.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.

Printed in 1920 it would be post WWI. Probably brought home by an occupation soldier as a souvenir from his duty on the Rhine. Viper, do you have the name of the Vet who brought this stuff back? You may be able to get some info on him and find out his service times.

Yup, apparently was the same vet who brought back the pickelhaube.
Have the provenance, will post when I can
