1934 Mosin Nagant and WWII

I just aquired a well loved 1934 mosin nagant. Does anyone have any idea of how to track down the serial number to see if it was used in war times or just stored and used as a training rifle?

Thank you,

There is apparently no rhyme or reason to the ser.# system the Soviets used. You can be assured though that your rifle most likely saw action.

Short answer: can not be done.  Such records, even if kept, and in exsistence won't see the light of day for a loooooong time, if ever.  So what variation is your rifle?  That could give a clue as to what type of soldier might have used it initially.  Given the date of your MN (a mere pup at the time hostilities broke out with Germany) and the dire straits of USSR arming its troops during the early portions of those hostilities, highly probably was issued to a Soviet soldier, but absent something like JYD's blood rust rifle, no available way to document use in action.
